Town of Marion Secures Over $2.9 Million in Transportation & Infrastructure Funding

Marion, Mississippi – The Town of Marion is proud to announce that more than $2.9 million in transportation and infrastructure funding has officially been secured to enhance safety, mobility, and connectivity throughout the community.

Through the FY26 Transportation Appropriations bill, Congressman Guest secured $2,000,000 for the Dale Drive Intersection Improvement and Road Widening Project. This legislation has now been signed into law.

Additionally, the Mississippi Transportation Commission approved up to $902,000 in Federal Transportation Alternative (TA) Program funds for sidewalk improvements. The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) will administer the funding and coordinate next steps with town leadership.

Together, these projects represent a transformational investment in Marion’s infrastructure and long-term growth.

Mayor Larry Gill stated:

“This is a tremendous moment for our town. Securing both roadway and sidewalk funding reflects the dedication of our team and the strong partnerships we’ve built at the state and federal levels. We are committed to improving safety, accessibility, and quality of life for every citizen of Marion. We’re planning the work — and working the plan — to keep Marion moving forward.”

Mayor Gill further noted that these milestones are especially significant given the town’s limited operational resources:

“With limited resources and a primarily part-time project staff, our team continues to deliver impactful results. Their commitment and perseverance are helping reshape the landscape of Marion for generations to come.”

The Dale Drive project will improve traffic flow and roadway safety, while the sidewalk improvements will expand pedestrian accessibility and connectivity — essential elements of responsible, forward-thinking community planning.

Town leadership remains focused on careful planning and strategic execution as these projects move into their next phases.
