Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

princek2001

On Monday, January 20, 2025, the Town of Marion, MS will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and all Town Hall and Water Department offices will be closed for the day.

This annual holiday serves as a time to reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader who tirelessly advocated for equality, unity, and love. As a community, we take this day to honor his vision and commitment to justice, as well as to recommit ourselves to fostering hope and unity in our town.

Dr. King once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" These words challenge us to think about how we can come together to support and uplift one another—not just on MLK Day, but every day.

Let’s use this day as an opportunity to celebrate the values he stood for:

  • Life: Appreciating the shared humanity that connects us all.

  • Love: Spreading kindness and compassion in all our actions.

  • Hope: Believing in a brighter future for everyone.

  • Unity: Building bridges of understanding and togetherness in our community.

While our offices will be closed, our commitment to serving the citizens of Marion remains unwavering. In case of emergencies, please dial 911 for immediate assistance.

We encourage everyone in Marion to honor Dr. King’s legacy by participating in acts of service, spending time with loved ones, or reflecting on how we can each contribute to making our town a stronger, more united place.

Together, we are a community united.
