Town of Marion to Observe Presidents Day

Town Hall & Water Department Closed Monday, February 16, 2026

MARION, MISSISSIPPI — The Town of Marion will observe Presidents Day on Monday, February 16, 2026. In recognition of the federal holiday, Marion Town Hall and the Water Department will be closed for the day and will resume normal business hours on Tuesday.

Presidents Day is a time for Americans to reflect on the leadership, service, and enduring principles that have shaped our nation. Originally established to honor President George Washington, the holiday now recognizes the legacy and leadership of all United States presidents who have guided our country through times of challenge, growth, and opportunity.

Mayor Larry Gill shared his thoughts on the importance of the day and what it represents for communities like Marion.

“Presidents Day reminds us that leadership is about service, responsibility, and putting people first,” said Mayor Larry Gill. “The success of our community, just like our nation, depends on strong leadership at every level — but it also depends on engaged citizens. When we work together with integrity and purpose, we build a future that honors those who came before us and creates opportunity for generations to come.”

While Town offices will be closed for the holiday, residents are reminded that emergency services will remain available. In case of emergency, please dial 911.

The Town of Marion wishes all residents a safe and meaningful Presidents Day as we reflect on leadership, civic responsibility, and the shared commitment to keeping Marion a strong and thriving community.
