New Water Adjustment Policy Goes Into Effect May 1, 2025

The Town of Marion has officially adopted a new Water Leak Adjustment Policy, which will go into effect on May 1, 2025. This updated policy is designed to provide clear guidelines and fairness for customers who experience an unexpected water leak.

Key Points of the New Policy:

  • Customers must complete and submit a Water Leak Adjustment Request Form along with a receipt or letter of repair to the Water Department.

  • Acceptable documentation includes a plumber’s bill or receipts for materials used in a homeowner repair. If you rent, a letter from your landlord is required.

  • Once your usage returns to normal (based on the average of the three months prior to the leak), an authorized staff member will process your adjustment.

  • The adjustment will be based on the difference between the high bill and your three-month average.

  • Swimming pool-related adjustments apply to sewer charges only.

  • Each customer is limited to one adjustment per 12-month period, covering up to two billing cycles.

  • The adjustment may take up to three months to process.

  • During the process, auto-pay is suspended, and no disconnection will occur within the first 60 days of the request.

  • If your bill exceeds $250, you may request a payment plan with the Board (limited to once per year).

Until the adjustment is approved, all bills must continue to be paid. If needed, customers are encouraged to pay at least the past due amount to avoid disruption of service.

We appreciate your cooperation as we work to serve our residents better. For questions or to download the adjustment form, contact us at (601) 483-9573 or email townofmarion@ymail.com.
