Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

Exciting news from Mayor Elvis Hudson and the Board of Aldermen for all residents in the Town of Marion:

The Town of Marion has just completed a $450,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) administered through the Mississippi Development Authority for Sewer Rehabilitation. This project was needed to upgrade existing lift stations that were installed in the 7O's and early 8O's and were undersized due to the growth of the town.

In addition to replacing the pumps and wet wells in these stations, this project also installed bypass connections on all existing lift stations so that sewer can be diverted down stream via a bypass pumping station to be purchased later with town funds. This will eliminate or reduce overflows of the sewer system due to malfunctions in the lift stations and allow the lift station to be bypassed for maintenance purposes.

This project completes our current sewer rehab program the town has been working on for 8 years. All the town's original lift stations have been replaced and upgraded with new lift stations. This will not only reduce the number of maintenance issues but also allow the town to continue to grow and expand services as needed.
